Previous Experience: My most recent experience was as Owner and Head Game Master on my own server, which was a SWCW server that sadly died far too early, but was promising and many people surprisingly joined. There I ran about 10 events between time of opening and time of closing, which were not great events because there was a lot of issues with NPCs, weapons, etc which were fixed but that didn't really matter. Though, the overall story of the events were liked and people always looked forward to my events. But before that I had been a GM on a server called Vortex Gaming, which as of the moment is dead, but it was last active about December of last year where it averaged about 30 players at any given time. On that server I originally got GM because I ran what I like to call an "unofficial event" where I had no GM abilities yet, and instead simply gathered a large group of players that were on that server at that time with a story that everyone seemed to like, especially the Admiral of the server. I was a Jedi and Jedi lead at the time so I was able to use my Jedi role to build up a good story, which hinted towards an actual event I assisted with later. A while after that I finally applied and got GM, and while my events could be somewhat chaotic, people, again, always liked them. I usually would have a good majority of people who liked my event each time I hosted one. For example, I once hosted an event where there was a Separatist Weapons Contractor who was inside of a CIS compound. The objective was to land on planet, scout out the area, infiltrate the compound, and subdue the Weapons Contractor. The event built up from a simple in and out mission to a full battle, with struggle and difficulty, that thankfully worked out for the troopers in the end as they barely made their escape in a LAAT while getting fired at by tanks, droids, and striders. The overall reaction to that event was entirely positive, people really liked it. The way some people explained it to me afterwards was that they liked it because of the realism of the simplicity turns to struggle aspect, but that even then I still didn't go crazy on them to keep it realistic, because a small CIS compound on a middle of nowhere planet wouldn't have a whole lot of military stationed there. People also have said I have a great sense of creativity, which I myself know because I've always been that way, I've written my own screenplays for short films I've made and overall I'm pretty good with story telling. And before that huge part of my GMing career, I originally got my first part of experience while playing on a server called HT.S, where I helped as an assistant GM. I would shadow a lot of skilled GMs who did great events based around focusing more heavily on story than combat, and sometimes changing aspects of an event to give something like each group of people to do, for example having one battalion like 212th focus on a weapons facility infiltration while Jedi fight a Sith, or use the force in some way to help everybody, before bringing everyone together for one task at the end. So that is usually what I always aim to do with events, it's been the way I've done things and it seems to be popular.
How many hours do you have on the server?
Not many, in fact I've probably only been on for an hour or two at this point in time while I'm writing this, so I advise you to hold off on doing anything with my application until I've been on the server for enough time, it'd be the smart thing to do.
How Active can you be?
I can be active most days around the clock, of course no crazy times like 12am EST - 9am EST. I'm also in school Mon-Friday 7:19am EST - 1:51pm EST, and on Tuesdays and Fridays (sometimes) I might have Marching Band activities to attend, but other than that I'm usually sitting around not doing much, so my schedule is wide open for those times. And I'll only be unavailable on Tuesdays until mid October and maybe unavailable on Fridays until the end of November. All you got to do is ping me, if I'm not already on, and I'll hop right on no problem!
Do you have any experience with ULX?
I've been staff on about 4 or 5 servers in the past, so yes, I have more than enough experience using ULX.
Have you been previously reported or punished for infringing on our guidelines?:
Nope! And I intend to make it stay that way. I have never, in any community, broken any rules and gotten kicked or banned for anything. Personally I see it as stupid to join a server or community just to waste your time by doing something dumb and getting removed. I know the border between having fun and being a jerk, so I always keep myself in line.
Questions:
What can you bring to the community as a GM?
Well, like any candidate, I can bring fun events, which both allow members to have a good time as well as organize them in their regiments to complete tasks and objectives on missions, which will definitely be almost always difficult, at least as difficult as something which is not impossible but still a challenge. I know how to create a good and meaningful story that lets members actually care for an event, and I have a signature balance between story and combat as I've already mentioned. My events will hinder to each group and regiment, usually giving each group of members a specialized task which helps the group to complete the main objective, instead of keeping everyone together doing the same thing, wasting the reason for separated and specialized regiments and troopers, which I've also already mentioned. I have plenty experience with using tools like the hyperdrive and turbo laser tool to make an event either more fun, more realistic, or more dramatic. I especially love RPing as event characters, such as an annoying prisoner or a stubborn citizen refusing to give information, that always helps in making members more involved and interested in an event, because it gives them an event related person they can react with and get to know and get to hate, love, or question that certain character, which is why I also usually use an event character in almost every single one of my events. I'm also pretty good with base/ship attack events, sometimes I like doing those because instead of being a scheduled and expected event, unless it's an important event, it can be really fun, because people can go from hanging out to suddenly readying themselves and trying to figure out what's going on, sometimes the controlled chaos can be great, and people will, unless it is repetitive, love those kinds of events when I do them as well. Overall, I can bring a sense of creativity, specialized tasks, and sometimes a good sort of chaos to events, you could say it's my specialty.
Describe an event you'd like to run:
OPERATION: SWAMP MONSTER
One event I'd like to run is Search and Rescue Event. In this event, the base would get a transmission from a nearby Venator, reporting their ship was attacked, and a few of their commanding officers kidnapped. They'd report that the CIS Vessel which attacked them was last seen going towards a system somewhere in the Outer Rim, one that the Republic had supposed was empty and uninhabited, as well as useless for any military means. So, the troops would gather up and head towards that planet. They'd land on a swampy and miserable planet, foggy and quiet. The 41st would scout the area, looking for clues and hints as to whether or not that planet was even where the Vessel had gone. However, after a bit of scouting they'd come across a landed CIS shuttle, empty, but with clear signs there was prisoners on board. Upon further investigation, they'd find a base, with stationed droids for security and commando droids on the inside. From there, the entirety of the clones would group up on the 41st's position. They'd be given new orders on how they would go about infiltrating the base and finding the imprisoned clone commanders. 501st and Clone Commandos would be assigned to a frontal assault, to take out outer security and rush right into the danger zone, while 212th would attempt to find a secondary way in by circling around the distraction of the 501st and Clone Commandos. The 21st Nova Corps, if needed would come in for backup for the 501st and Commandos as suddenly, backup droid units would come in a transport, along with a single tank. The plan would almost be entirely thrown out the window, and the troopers would have to improvise. The 212th would be told to circle back around and attack the tank and backup units from behind, if possible as they ran into some droid security as well. Once all the outer droids and things are taken care of, they'd finally all enter into the base, into the main compound to a squad or two of droids inside, protecting storage containers, and some files, as well as a drive in the computer. When the troops would view the digital contents of the drive, they'd come to find that the CIS had been using this content to interrogate and experiment on clones, the project headed by a CIS scientist by the name of Dronva Cuiness, who would not be present in the base, which would tie into a second event most likely, as the information that clones were being experimented on would outrage the everyone, all most likely wanting revenge. They'd continue searching around, eventually finding 2 dead clone officers, burned and deformed. The 3rd officer would still be alive, cuffed and sad over his dead brothers. He'd tell the clones that his two brothers were interrogated and tortured, and they had told the CIS about a secret Republic Project so they wouldn't kill them, which the droids did anyway. The only reason that Major Pyro, the 3rd and only remaining clone officer, was left alive was because the droids needed at least one clone of the group to ship off to the scientist guy for experimentation. Upon retrieval of the clone prisoner, everyone would leave the base, but would find that reinforcements had been alerted and come from a planet not far off. There would be multiple squads of B1s and Commandos (meaning I'd need an assistant), which everyone as a group would fight, trying to escort the clone back to the LAAT evac. After a long and desperate battle, they'd finally leave the planet and return back to their base, where there would be a full DB explaining the situation. Major Pyro would explain to everyone about the horrors committed by Dronva Cuiness, who Major Pyro had been investigating before the attack on his ship. If voted by everyone at DB, there could be a second follow up event, where Dronva Cuiness is located and either taken prisoner or killed, depending on what everyone wants to do. While this is not the best or most inclusive event I've ever come up with, I still feel like it could be a good intro event to what I'm capable of GM wise, and, hopefully, everyone would enjoy it.
If you had to describe what you expect a gamemaster's job to be in 3 words, what would they be?
In three words, I'd say: Creativity, Balance, and Improvisation. Creativity is pretty straight forward, events have to be creative and fun for them to be good. Balance, because a good GM must know how to keep balance of their events, not being too hard on the players with combat, not being too light on story, and not being too simple with combat where nothing is really happening. And Improvisation because most of the time, the players don't want to follow a strict set of steps to do something, and will instead say "screw it" and will decide to do their own thing, meaning the GM must improvise around the players for the event to still stay intact, whether that be the players want to avoid combat and go around an area or whether players want to ignore something story-wise.
